In the center of Valle del Cauca, 60 kilometers north of Cali and 5 kilometers east of Sonso, is “Pichichí”, an extension founded by pre-Columbian Indians, which means “small downpour”.
Don Modesto Cabal Galindo, visionary and passionate about the sugar industry, created the Guacharacal sugar mill and participated in the founding of the Providencia sugar mill. He then acquired the Pichichí hacienda, owned by former president Antonio Sanclemente.
After his death, his legacy continued with the creation of Pichichí S.A. in April 1941. With more than eight decades of progress, Ingenio Pichichí has stood out as one of the most prominent in the region and in the national sugar industry.
